SGTM built several components of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) campus in Benguerir, an international-level higher education and research hub. In particular, SGTM constructed the student residences and the Student Center as part of Phase 2 of the project (2018–2021). These facilities include accommodation buildings for 1,500 students (combined capacity of Phases 1 & 2), with rooms, restaurants, sports facilities, and co-working spaces.
The Student Center, delivered in 2021, is a three-story complex housing a library, auditorium, conference rooms, and spaces for student life and associations. SGTM adapted its operations to the Green City of Benguerir (55 ha campus), prioritizing the use of local materials (Benguerir ochre stone façades) and sustainable solutions (solar panels generating 1 MW to partially power the campus supercomputer).
A major challenge was meeting the tight schedule imposed by the academic calendar: SGTM completed the construction in under 36 months. Inaugurated in 2017 and extended until 2021, UM6P Benguerir now hosts more than 2,000 students and 300 researchers. This project reflects SGTM’s commitment to national-interest initiatives that combine high technical complexity (data center networks, high-tech laboratories) with enhanced student quality of life.
