SGTM carried out the structural works for the Twin Center, two iconic twin towers in the Maârif district of Casablanca. Each tower rises 28 floors to a height of 115 m and is designed for mixed use (offices and retail). Construction took place between 1995 and 1998.
SGTM executed the deep foundations using large-diameter bored piles adapted to the soil conditions of the Casablanca plain, then simultaneously erected the two reinforced concrete skeletons at a steady pace of about one floor poured every eight days per tower. Each tower is built around a reinforced concrete central core (housing vertical circulation and technical shafts) with peripheral façade columns. A steel structure bridge connects the towers at the level of the lower shopping mall.
High-pressure concrete pumps were used to reach the 115 m height, and self-climbing formwork was deployed for the central cores. The site posed considerable logistical challenges due to its limited urban footprint, requiring careful coordination of materials and cranes within a confined space. Delivered on schedule, the Twin Center offers approximately 30,000 m² of premium office space and a five-level luxury shopping mall. These towers have since become a landmark of the Casablanca skyline, showcasing SGTM’s high-rise construction expertise as early as the 1990s.
