SGTM built the new Rabat bus station in the Hay Riad district, near the Moulay Abdallah stadium, to replace the old downtown terminal. Construction began in 2016, lasted 36 months, and the facility was commissioned at the end of 2019. Covering a total built area of 21,617 m², the station is part of the “Rabat Ville Lumière” program. SGTM executed the structural works and all trades for this modern complex, designed for optimal passenger flow management.
The infrastructure includes 46 coach bays, a short-term car park (24 spaces), and a long-term parking area (20 spaces) for buses and passenger vehicles. It also features air-conditioned waiting halls, ticket counters, shops and restaurants, as well as security systems meeting international standards. The project, with a budget of approximately MAD 160 million excluding external works, also involved the construction of direct road access from the Rabat–Casablanca motorway to improve connectivity.
SGTM coordinated this urban project while minimizing disruption to surrounding traffic. Since 2020, the new bus station has helped decongest central Rabat by reducing coach traffic in the city and significantly improving comfort and safety in intercity transport.
