SGTM took part in the construction of PSA’s Kénitra plant, the French car manufacturer’s first factory in Morocco. Inaugurated in June 2019, the facility covers 300 ha and produces the Peugeot 208 and Citroën Ami models. SGTM was awarded the civil works package for several workshops (assembly, logistics) for a contract value of approximately MAD 509 million.
The works included the construction of shallow foundations and large-area industrial flooring (up to 20,000 m² in a single pour) with strict flatness tolerances for AGV movement, as well as the erection of reinforced concrete structures for utility buildings (transformer stations, sprinkler rooms). SGTM had to meet very tight deadlines—less than 18 months—to allow for the rapid installation of PSA’s assembly lines. Daily coordination with French teams was essential, particularly for on-site adaptations during construction.
Initially designed for an output of 100,000 vehicles per year, the plant doubled its capacity to 200,000 units as early as 2020. SGTM subsequently contributed to expansions, including the construction of an additional stamping workshop in 2020. The project created 2,500 direct jobs upon commissioning. SGTM’s contribution was decisive in delivering a facility that meets PSA Group standards, firmly establishing the automotive industry in the Kénitra region.
