SGTM built for the OCP Group a next-generation data center located in the Techpark of the Mohammed VI Green City in Benguerir. Completed in 2019, this 37,383 m² technology campus houses critical digital infrastructure to host data for OCP, its clients, and African partners. The facility is designed to meet Uptime Institute Tier III and Tier IV standards – it features four 500 m² server rooms (three Tier III, one Tier IV), delivering a total IT capacity of 5 MW.
SGTM carried out the structural works for the buildings and installed the technical systems in coordination with Jacobs and JESA (project management). The project integrates innovative passive cooling solutions: a ventilated double-roof to limit heat gain on upper floors, complemented by solar chimneys to extract warm air. A landscaped central patio and a water basin contribute to natural cooling through evapotranspiration.
The building envelope uses prefabricated fiber-reinforced concrete panels and gabion acoustic walls (with locally sourced stones) to reduce environmental impact. Awarded a 2020 DCD Global Award for Best Enterprise Data Center, this facility is one of the most advanced in Africa. It offers high resilience (redundant power supply and cooling systems) while leveraging renewable energy from the adjacent solar plant.
