SGTM took part in the construction of Morocco Mall, the largest shopping center in North Africa at its opening in 2011. Located on a 10-hectare seafront site in Casablanca, the complex covers 200,000 m² built-up area (including 70,000 m² of retail GLA over three levels). SGTM carried out the structural works for the center, notably the reinforced concrete structure spanning large open areas for column-free retail spaces (atriums, shopping galleries).
The company poured over 100,000 m³ of concrete and installed 12,000 tonnes of steel to build the floors and walls of this monumental building. Close coordination was required with other contractors (luxury finishes, a giant cylindrical aquarium with 1 million liters of water, ice rink) to meet the end-2011 opening deadline. The project, with a total cost of MAD 2 billion, mobilized up to 1,200 workers at peak periods, working in three shifts to recover delays caused by the architectural complexity (curved glass façades, 30 m dome).
Today, Morocco Mall hosts more than 350 brands, confirming the technical and commercial success of the project. SGTM demonstrated its capacity to deliver very large-scale shopping centers within the allotted timeframe.
