This strategic project aims to interconnect the Sebou (north) and Bouregreg (central) river basins to secure the drinking water supply for the Rabat–Casablanca corridor. Completed in record time (approximately 10 months of works in 2022–2023), the first phase consists of a 67 km steel pipeline with a diameter of 3.2 m, connecting the regulating dam on the Sebou River to the Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah Dam reservoir.
Two pumping stations, each with a unit flow of 7.5 m³/s (15 m³/s total), lift the water along the route. The system enables the transfer of up to 400 million m³ of water per year to the coastal area—a volume previously lost to the sea—thus ensuring the water resilience of Greater Rabat–Casablanca.
