This new deep-water port, located in Morocco’s far south, is a flagship project aimed at boosting the development of the southern provinces. The consortium led by SGTM (with SOMAGEC and partners) won the construction contract in 2021 for an amount of approximately MAD 10 billion.
The port complex will include a fishing port with an annual landing capacity of 950,000 tonnes of fish, as well as a commercial terminal designed to handle around 2.2 million tonnes of goods per year in its initial phase. Dakhla Atlantic Port will feature multiple breakwaters, multipurpose quays, and logistics areas, and will be connected to both the road network and the future railway network. It will serve as a key driver for the economic and logistical development of Morocco’s southern regions.
